What's In My Travel Bag?
I'm hooked on America's number one face cream
Most of today's hyaluronic acid products will help plump and minimize fine lines, but too many of those creams leave me with pimples, white bumps and red patches. Much to my surprise, it was this drugstore brand that performed like luxury brands and didn't leave me with irritated skin. The light gel cream absorbs quickly, plumps out fine lines and leaves me feeling hydrated and refreshed. I appreciate that there's no fragrance in this formula, as fragrance is the number one ingredient that tends to cause red patches.

This slim baby wipe case is refillable
Foaming baby wash saves the day
When I can't step into the shower to clean intimate areas, I pump a bit of this gentle cleansing foam onto a baby wipe. No water is necessary to work the soap into a foam. The product can also be used to wash the face, eliminating the need to carry an extra bottle of face soap. The bottle is perfectly sized to fit into the exterior side pouch of my backpack.

These slim travel tubes are perfect for shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
Large tubes of shampoo and conditioner are great for my suitcase, but they're much too big for my backpack. These slim travel tubes fit into spaces that other travel tubes can't. The extra soft silicone design makes it easy to roll and squeeze the last bit of product from my tube. Not a penny wasted!

This sulfate free shampoo doesn't fade my dye job
I've found the secret to keeping my bright auburn hair fresh for up to three months! I used to dye my hair every six weeks to prevent fading. As I entered my mid 40s, the constant dying caused my hair to thin out and look like straw. I now understand that all of my hair problems can be avoided if I treat my hair right! I no longer wash my hair on a daily basis, and my scalp thanks me for waiting three days between washings. I only choose sulfate free products to prevent excessive drying and preserve my color as long as possible. Not everyone can follow my hair regimen, as folks with oily hair may need to wash everyday. My hair tends to be dry and a bit frizzy. It loves a break between washings.

I'm still in love with Pantene conditioner
I remember the fist time I saw a video of a hair stylist using a razor to scratch the waxy film off a stand of dry hair. The video was designed to sell upscale salon products by proving that drugstore conditioning products like Pantene leave a waxy coating on each individual strand of hair. NEWS FLASH! Ultra expensive salon products do the same thing. Wander over to YouTube to find videos that prove that ALL HAIR CONDITIONERS leave a waxy coating behind. That's good news for those of us who don't have an extra $30 to spend on a tube of conditioner.

Only Gold Bond medicated lotion goes into my travel tubes
With medically proven ingredients like zinc, menthol and eucalyptus, this lotion calms angry skin and leaves a beautiful cooling sensation behind. It never burns when applied to extra dry or cracked hands! Because of the medically proven ingredients, this brand relieves itching, kills bacteria and remains more shelf stable than most any other lotion on the market. In fact, it's the only local store brand that has an expiration date on the bottle. That's because manufacturers of beauty products don't want you to know how long the products have been stored in warehouses before hitting store shelves. If you're into buying organic lotion products, note that the presence of vitamins can feed bacteria, and the lack of preservatives can encourage the growth of mold. Such products should be used right away and never stored in travel bottles for long periods. I learned this lesson the hard way when I stocked more organic products than I could use in a six month period. Oh, the money I wasted on pricey bottles of fancy hand lotion! Don't repeat my mistakes. Fill your travel tubes with Gold Bond Extra Medicated Lotion.

This concealer doesn't settle into fine lines!
When I hit my late 40s, I had to throw away all of the concealer and foundation products that I had loved in the past. It almost seemed pointless to collect liquid concealers because all of the drugstore products exaggerated the fine lines developing around my eyes. An expensive trip to Sephora led me to try several brands that supposedly won't settle into cracks. Tarte Shape Tape performed like a dream. I was equally impressed by Lancomb's Tient Idole Ultra Wear Concealer, but this line didn't have offer a shade that perfectly matched my skin. For an in depth discussion of this topic, look into videos uploaded by Angie Schmitt on YouTube. This beautiful woman spends an outrageous amount of money trying different concealer products and filming the results up close. I could've saved a lot of time if I had watched her videos before embarking on my first mission to identify products that won't settle into cracks.
